THE ENTIRE FIRST FLOOR FLOORING SYSTEM WAS REPLACED
THE REAR SLAVE QUARTES SURVIVED THE FIRES OF THE LATE 1700'S AND PRDATES THE OTHER BUILDINGS.
ALL HISTORICAL BRICKWORK WAS REPOINTED WITH SPECIAL SOFT MORTAR AND THEN A LAYER OF STUCCO APPLIED. A TOP COAT OF COLORED STUCCO WAS THEN APPLIED TO PREVENT THE NEED FOR PAINTING. PAINTING KEEPS THE BRICKS FROM BREATHING AND CAUSES MORTAR FALURE.
ALL INTERIOR MASONRY WALLS IN THE REAR SLAVE QUARTERS AND THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE MAIN BUILDING WERE REPOINTED AND STUCCOED LIKE THE EXTERIOR, AND CREOLE PLASTER APPLIED. THE FINAL COAT WAS TINTED WITH YELLOW OCRE PIGMENT (A NATURAL AND HISTIRICAL TECHNIQUE). LOCAL ARTISANS JEREMY LOVE AND JAMES TAYLOR INSTALLED THE PLASTER WALLS AND FABRICATED ONSITE THE NEW PLASTER CROWN IN THE HALLWAYS.
THE ENTIRE FIRST AND MOST OF THE THIRD FLOOR INTERIOR FRAMING WAS REPLACED TO ACCOMODATE ADDITIONAL MODERN FEATURES LIKE ADDITIONAL BATHS, CLOSETS, AND DRESSING ROOMS.
NEW DRAINAGE PIPING, ELECTRICAL, AND PLUMBING WAS REPLACED IN EVERY BUILDING. THE COURTYARD PAVING WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED TO ACCOMODATE THE PIPING.
ALL UNITS HAVE BEEN FULLY INSULATED WITH CELLULOSE INSULATION. THIS INSULATION IS RECYCLED AND PROVIDES BETTER SOUND INSULATION THAN FIBERGLASS. CEILINGS AND FLOORS BETWEEN UNITS WERE ALSO INSULATED.
THE REAR SLAVE QUARTERS WITH ITS NEW STUCCO AND NEWLY MILLED REPLACEMENT DOORS. ALL EXTERIOR MILLWORK INSTALLED IS SPANISH CEDAR. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST EXTERIOR WOODS, AND IS HARDER THAN CYPRESS. THIS INCLUDES THE NEW FRENCH DOORS, WINDOWS AND SHUTTERS.

UNIT A GUEST BEDROOM

JAMES TAYLOR INSTALLING THE PLASTER CROWN. DUE TO THE UNEVENNESS OF PARTS OF THE CEILINGS, THE PRE-RUN PIECES HAD TO BE CUT AND FIT IN PLACE. OTHER SECTIONS WERE ACTUALLY RAN IN PLACE ON THE WALL, A TIME CONSUMING PROCESS.

A MAJOR MILESTONE - THE COURTYARD GETS LANDSCAPED. THIS COURTYARD GETS LOTS OF LIGHT AND WILL BE A GREAT PLACE TO RELAX. WIFI WILL BE INCLUDED SO YOU CAN WORK WIRELESSLY WHILE YOU ENJOY THE HYBRID GROUND ORCHIDS, MANY VARIETIES OF FERNS AND PALMS, JAPANESE MAPLES, AND YOU CANNOT MISS THE WONDERFUL OLD DATE PALM.

INSTALLATION OF "FINAL TOUCHES" BEGINS AS CHANDELIERS BEGIN TO BE SET AND REPLACE TEMPORARY FIXTURES.
LEFT, UNIT A PARLOR. RIGHT, UNIT A DINING ROOM THE PARLOR HAS MATCHING BROWN ALABASTER AND BRONZE CHANDELIERS AND WALL SCONCES, AND THE DINING ROOM HAS A CREAM ALABASTER AND PATINATED BARSS CHANDELIER AND SCONCES.
